Did you notice that 'Facebook' is nothing else than a Cemetary? (Not far away from Mormon's registers of dead people.)
This was good job from British Writter Evelyn Waugh to make a tale about USA, 'The Beloved One', mixing cemetery, i.e. death and love/sex. This was a good way for E. Waugh to demonstrate that US-Christianity is entirely fake, and as we know, inspirated by Egyptian. 'Facebook' is a kind of Pyramid and Zuckerberg a Pharao. Nobody can die on 'Facebook', because most of the people on it and their relationships are already dead.
But E. Waugh did not made this demonstration; he did continue himself to believe that he was 'Catholic'. Understanding is nothing. You can understand God is something great and that does not make something of you. That's why for Christian faith is not in God but in Salvation (contrarily to Egyptians).
Good understanding of E. Waugh of what American Dream was made of, comes from the fact he is himself underground and obsessed by Sex and Love. He wants them in Christianity, though they are not.
